About the role

Programme Start Date: September 2019

Our Head Office programme is for graduates who are attracted by the busy pace of retail but who also have a passion for food and delivering great service to customers. From your first day on the office programme, you’ll be part of a team. You could be producing materials or reports that will be used in stores, head office, by senior leaders, or by your immediate team. Sometimes graduate roles can be undervalued in an organisation but in Tesco you get a lot of responsibility from the offset.

On the graduate programme, we’ll provide you with all the tools you need to develop into one of our leaders of the future. We give our graduates a combination of operational and leadership development training, not to mention exposure to a fast paced environment where the work you do will be tangible with real results.

You will be responsible for

For the Head Office Programme, you will start off with an induction in one of our flagship stores and various other locations to really understand how the business operates. This is then followed by two separate eight-month rotations located in our Head Office in Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin. One of the rotations will be a stretch role, something you didn’t study in college, and for the other rotation we aim to match you with a position related to your area of study.

We want to ensure that you get the most out of each rotation so it will be structured around a project with clear deliverables within the eight months. This means you’ll know how you are progressing and can plot your success along the way.

You will have close relationships with all other graduates on the programme and you will work with them to develop a business project, giving you a well-rounded experience of the Tesco business.

You will need

  • At least a 2:2 degree in any subject.
  • To be able to work with others and achieve success together.
  • To put people and our customers at the heart of what you do.
  • To be agile in the way you think, make decisions and handle change.
  • To stick to your values and do the right thing, even when it’s tough.
  • A positive attitude, and a way of inspiring confidence in others.
  • To be connected to the latest thinking, inside and outside of the business.
  • The hunger to drive your own career and become one of our leaders.
  • To be an innovator, spotting opportunities to improve our business.
  • Show great resilience.
